Fairtrade-The Difference

I am rich, she is poor
I go to school, she does not
I get a good education, she does not
I don't have to work, she works for 60p a day
I know how to read and write, she does not
I have my own land to grow my own food on, she has not
I have a lot of food, she has not
I have got clean water, she has not
I get medical attention, she does not
I work for Fairtrade and get paid fairly, she does not
I have hope, she does not

Daryl Brogan, Year 6, Pool House CP School

FAIRTRADE

Fairtrade is fairer
And kinder
In every way
Reaching out to help
Treating and teaching people well
Reading and writing
A clean water supply
Diseases are no more
Every child is valued

Adam Jones, Year 6, Pool House CP School

FAIRTRADE

Families suffer, my family does not
A clinic has been built
I can write, he cannot
Rarely does he have enough food, I have plenty
The land we have is our own
Reading is impossible for him, easy for me
A bore hole has been made for clean water, his is dirty
Diseases are able to be cured, but not his
Everyone would like to work for Fairtrade

Chloe Walmsley, Year 6, Pool House CP School

Fairtrade

Thanks Fairtrade
For the things you gave
To stop us going
To an early grave

Fairtrade is starting
Starting to give
The things to all
To ensure that we live

Fairtrade gave us
An education for our time
To make all the things
I lost become mine

Now we have pumps
And things are all clean at last
Anbd the new things work
Better than those in the past

Andrew Shaw &Thomas Clucas, Age 10,
St. Teresa's RC School, Penwortham

FAIRTRADE

We get decent wages now
You've helped us Fairtrade
You gave us a clean water pump
and the hospital you made

We got a good home
You gave us a school
I don't work now
and chocolate's really cool

Dad's got a new job
Mum's getting fair deals
Light in the factory too
and we all get good meals

Sister goes to school
I go to college
I've got a new brother
and lots of knowledge

Elizabeth Dawes & Bethany Coxhead, Age 10 & 9,
St. Teresa's RC School, Penwortham

FAIRTRADE

A thank-you to Fairtrade
We've now got some good deals
My family are so happy
We can all afford good meals

I go to a new school now
And learning is good fun
My friends all love to play with me
So thanks for what you've done

You gave us fresh clean water
You gave us plenty of food
The clinics are now open
We're in a much better mood

My life has simply changed
This Fairtrade is the best
Now everyone is smiling
And we have a lot more time to rest

Lauren Smith & Amy Brown, Age 10,
St. Teresa's RC School, Penwortham

Please help the children
They need you
They work all day
They get a small wage

Please help the children
They drink dirty water
They die every day
They cry every day
They need clean water

Please help the children
Then Fairtrade came
Fairtrade gave them a fair wage
Fairtrade gave them clean water
Fairtrade gave them warm beds
Thank you for helping the children

You gave them money
So they could go to school
You fave them better working conditions
Now they can live a happy life
Thank you for helping the children

Rory Kellett, Age 9,
St. Teresa's RC School, Penwortham

Will you help us?
To get a good life like others
Then we can go to school
Instead of working hard in factories
There will be clean water to drink

Will you help us?
We will have good hospitals
And Mum and Dad will get a fair wage
Not have to walk 5 miles to work
Not have to get up really early

Thank you for helping!
Now you've helped us
We've got a school
We've got hospitals
Mum and Dad are happy

Thank you for helping
We can eat chocolate
Mum and Dad can drink coffee
Grow our own food
We really appreciate your help

Thank you for helping!

Nicol Smith, Age 9,
St. Teresa's RC Primary, Penwortham

And finally a rap written by Robert, Joe, Sam, Toby, Alex and Jonathan from Year 6 (2003), Our Lady & St Edward's Catholic Primary School, Fulwood, following a talk on Fairtrade

Fairtrade Rap

Once upon a time in Garnere (pronounced garny-A)
Everyone was getting rubbish pay
And even though the people were mega poor
At every job they got shown the door

But then along came Fairtrade man
And gave people money to buy food like lamb

And over in Ethiopia
People were getting poorer
Because without fairtrade
They couldn't get paid
They had to flog things from the street
Just so they get things to eat

They didn't want lamb
They were working to get a sewing machine
Running past cars, giving them a clean

There was a child called sam the man
He worked in a quarry to chop up stone
But when he got nothing to eat he turned into skin and bone

So go out now and buy Fairtrade choc
And stop children smashing up rock.

FAIRTRADE!!!!!!!!!
